Facilities Maintenance Technician

Pay: $20-$24/hour

Location:

Albany, NY

Shift: 8:00AM-4:30PM, Monday through Friday (on call 1x/month)

Job Description

The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of maintenance, repair, and improvement work for commercial and residential properties. This role focuses on general building upkeep, troubleshooting facility issues, and completing repairs efficiently while delivering professional, customer-focused service to tenants and property owners.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on residential and commercial properties, ensuring all areas are safe, functional, and well maintained.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, painting, and carpentry issues as they arise.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections to identify potential problems before they develop into major repairs.
  • Complete work orders accurately, promptly, and in a professional manner, documenting work performed as required.
  • Maintain building systems, including lighting, doors, locks, and common area equipment, to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform exterior maintenance tasks such as landscaping, snow removal, pressure washing, and parking lot upkeep when needed.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls outside of normal business hours on a rotational on-call basis.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable safety regulations, company standards, and best practices.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies, and report any needs for replenishment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with property managers, tenants, and contractors regarding repair status, timelines, and project updates.
  • Utilize property management or work order tracking systems when required to receive, update, and close maintenance requests.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience in property maintenance, construction, facilities maintenance, or related trades.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, appliance repair, light fixtures, remodeling, and general maintenance practices.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for facility and building systems.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills when interacting with tenants, property owners, and colleagues.
  • Ability to complete work orders and maintenance tasks in a timely, organized, and professional manner.

Pay and Benefits
