Counselor- Crisis Residence

Starting Hourly Rate:$20.40

Schedule: 30-40 hours per week; includes days, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays

Medical, dental, vision, FSA, voluntary life, STD, LTD, Legal Plan, Pet Insurance available the first of the month following thirty (30) days of employment, 403(B), tuition reimbursement, vacation, personal, sick and 11 observed holidays.

Under the direction of the Assistant Program Administrator, the counselor creates a safe and secure environment to help youth gain self-control, aid in emotion regulation and develop positive social skills.

• Implement and facilitate agency practices including policies, procedures and Crisis Residence routine including recreational activities, group meetings, meals, bedtimes and any additional program activities
• Ensure a clean, safe, therapeutic and healthy environment within the Crisis Residence
• Provide supervision of youth ensuring opportunities to teach and role model during all aspects of agency programming, while maintaining appropriate boundaries
• Transport youth in the agency vehicle to medical services or appointments as needed to increase their sense of health, well-being and safety
• Assist in the intake/admissions process for potential Crisis Residence youth as indicated
• Ensure assigned paperwork is thorough and accurate
• Maintain relationships with law enforcement, health providers and other outside agencies that may provide services or referrals
• Attend and contribute to all scheduled meetings including weekly staff meetings, supervision, in-services and other meetings as directed by the Crisis Residence Assistant Program Administrator

Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with youth; ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively; must be able to meet written, physical and life space interview testing standards as outlined by the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) curriculum; strong and professional communication skills both verbally and in writing; BA or BS in the field of Human Services preferred; two (2) years experience working in related field my be substituted for degree;

valid driver’s license preferred.
