Position Overview & Organizational Relationships

The Skill Builder position will provide Psycho-Social Rehabilitation services to youth within our Child and Family Treatment Support Services program (CFTSS). The youth in this program have been identified, or are at risk of developing mental health, substance abuse, or developmental challenges. This service is intended to improve the youths health and well-being and maintain them in their homes and communities.

Psycho-Social Rehabilitation is a service designed to restore, rehabilitate, and support a child's/youth's developmental, mental health, and behavioral needs to achieve identified goals or objectives as set forth in the child's treatment plan while being in accordance with CFTSS regulations. This service is geared towards integrating the child/youth into their community and assisting with developing the skills needed to be a productive member of their family and community.

The overall goal is to assist the child with skill development through preventive intervention so minimal on-going professional intervention is needed later on.

These support services are also aimed to help the youth's family manage the daily challenges of parenting a child with mental health, behavioral, and/or developmental needs. Services in part are provided for 20 hours and are delivered within the youth's home, school, or other community settings, and are always goal-directed based on the individual needs of that youth and family. Oftentimes, services delivered by the Skill Builder are in conjunction to other services being delivered to the youth and family.

As such, Skill Builder staff must work in a coordinated manner with both agency and outside providers.

Experience, Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, or in related human services field; OR
