Overview
Duties Description Under the supervision of an ITS 4 this .NET developer position will be a member of a team in the Digital Transformation Office/Geospatial Services/Enterprise Services unit. This candidate will participate in the development of applications as well as products while also serving as support for previously developed applications. A .NET developer builds the digital tools and systems that businesses rely on, from user-facing apps to powerful backend services, ensuring they are efficient, secure, and high-performing.
In addition to .NET this position may be tasked with coding Python automation, or developing GIS web/desktop solutions using ESRI or open-source frameworks.

- Designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software applications using the .NET framework
- Developing robust web, desktop, or mobile solutions
- Ensuring code quality through code reviews, debugging, optimizing performance, collaborating with teams, and implementing security features
- Translating business needs into functional software, work with databases, integrate services, and staying updated with the evolving .NET ecosystem
- Development:
Writing clean, scalable code for applications, APIs, and user interfaces - Testing & Debugging:
Creating unit tests, identifying and fixing bugs, and ensuring application quality - Maintenance:
Modifying and improving existing software and assisting with technical support - Collaboration:
Working with business analysts, designers, and other developers to meet project goals - Architecture:
Designing application layers, database integrations, and technical specifications
- Code Reviews:
Participating in reviews to maintain code standards and quality - Performance Tuning:
Identifying bottlenecks and optimizing application speed and scalability - Documentation:
Creating technical documentation for applications and processes - Security:
Implementing secure coding practices, access controls, and data encryption - Dev Ops:
Using tools for automated deployment and integrating with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
- Languages:
Primarily C#, but also may include JavaScript and Python - Frameworks:
Utilizing the .NET Core ecosystem - Databases:
Designing and optimizing SQL databases - Architectures:
Implementing patterns like microservices
Minimum Qualifications
One year of permanent competitive services as an Information Technology Specialist 3 OR in a position at G-21 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
