Position: Software Developer (Java / EJB / Hibernate / Struts 2)
Location: City of Albany

Trigyn’s direct government client has an immediate need for a Software Developer in Albany, NY.

Job Overview

Analysis, design, coding, component and assembly testing of all application code owned by the Application Team. Maintenance (including production support), enhancement and development work. Write application software, data analysis, data access, data structures, data manipulation, databases, design, programming, testing and implementation, technical and user documentation, software conversions.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in Joint Application Development sessions to assist in the formulation of Use Case analysis deliverables.
  • Interpret Use Case requirements, seek clarification from Business Analysts as needed and estimate, propose, prototype and develop a solution that integrates within the existing ASSETS technology stack and framework.
  • Provide J2EE, JBoss Enterprise Application Server, SOA web services, Oracle, Unisys Mainframe Transaction Management (DTPRA) application development expertise and mentoring to staff.
  • Provide work breakdown structures to articulate tasks, level of effort and dependencies between tasks and report progress.
  • Provide troubleshooting and end‑user support/problem resolution when necessary.
  • Provide technical documentation, solution prototypes, conduct demonstrations of work in progress and completed work to business subject matter experts and other technical staff as requested/required.
Mandatory Qualifications
  • Involved with all facets of the software development process, including research, design, programming, testing and implementation of computer software.
  • Candidate can work independently, without assistance and provides guidance to others. May have an advanced education.
  • 60 months of experience planning, designing, developing, and executing test strategies based on software specifications for a web‑based application in a large, complex and diverse Human Services delivery system consisting of more than 100 screens and more than 100 cross edits.
  • 60 months of experience designing and developing enterprise solutions using Enterprise Java Beans (EJB)3.x, including implementation of Stateless and Stateful Session Beans, while leveraging Container‑Managed Transactions (CMT) for efficient transaction management.
  • 60 months of experience integrating with external systems such as FPLS and SPLS for secure and compliant data file exchanges, ensuring reliable data transmission and system interoperability. Designed and developed RESTful and SOAP‑based web services to consume and expose external data sources, enabling seamless system‑to‑system integration across enterprise applications.
  • 60 months of experience integrating Hibernate ORM with Java applications, resolving complex Hibernate6 migration issues such as entity mapping errors, DTO mismatches, inheritance conflicts, and null data handling across enterprise modules.
  • 60 months of experience analyzing business processes and workflows to support system enhancements and operational efficiency. Developed and generated data files for the Local Processing Center (LPC) to facilitate document generation processes, while actively coordinating with LPC teams to troubleshoot system issues and ensure smooth processing operations.
  • 60 months of experience developing Java‑based applications integrated with legacy COBOL mainframe systems using Unisys DTPRA connectors, enabling seamless communication and reliable data exchange between distributed and mainframe environments.
  • 48 months of experience designing and developing document generation (DOCGEN) modules for state government enterprise applications using Java, Hibernate, EJB, and SOAP/RESTful web services to support automated document processing and business workflow operations.
  • 60 months of experience working in government‑based enterprise application environments, supporting public sector systems with secure data processing, compliance‑driven business workflows, and seamless integration between legacy mainframe and modern distributed platforms.
  • 48 months of experience working with server‑side templating engines such as Free Marker to develop dynamic document generation solutions, utilizing PDF rendering libraries and Jasper Reports for enterprise reporting applications.
  • 60 months of experience developing financial accounting modules using Struts2 and implementing MVC‑based action workflows for account management, payment processing, and intake submission within state government child‑support enterprise systems.
