Job Summary:

This posting is for a pooled position. Application submissions for "[POOL]" positions are accepted on an ongoing basis to ensure a continuous and ready pool of qualified candidates for immediate review when the need arises. If/when a position becomes available, the College will review applications from this pool, and interview candidates whose qualifications best match the specific opening.

Applicants must reapply to the pool annually to maintain their active status in the pool.

The Agriculture Department at LBCC offers a wide range of courses including Crop Science, Computers in Agriculture, Forage Crops, Marketing in Agriculture, Management in Agriculture, and Soils (CSS). The faculty member develops, plans, and presents organized lectures, laboratory activities, and out of class assignments in accordance with approved course outlines.

Required Qualifications:

Applications are reviewed for minimum qualifications. In order to be considered, your application must clearly show you meet the minimum qualifications for this position.

Completion of 27 graduate quarter hours in Agriculture, Horticulture or a field relevant to course(s) taught. Prefer Master's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or a related field, or a Master's degree in another field and a minimum of either 27 graduate quarter hours or 24 graduate semester hours in biological sciences.

Or, If teaching an animal technology course, a master's degree is not required. Applicants must have an appropriate degree and four years of successful work experience in an occupational area; or seven years of successful experience in an occupational area.

* Related fields include, but are not limited to:
Animal science, horticulture, agriculture, crop and soil sciences, agriculture business, biology, veterinary sciences, and equine sciences.

* Provisional:
Bachelor's degree plus 27 graduate quarter hours in the above field(s) AND in active pursuit of master's degree or doctorate. Applicants hired under this qualification will be approved to teach in a provisional capacity until proof of completion of the minimum qualifications is provided to the college.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer recent teaching experience in a community college or university setting. Working knowledge of computer software and Learning Management Systems.

Experience with different modalities of instruction, including synchronous and asynchronous online learning. Expertise or experience in teaching from a social justice perspective. Prefer teaching experience in a community college or university setting.

Physical Requirements and

Working Conditions:

Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time. Requires good hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and/or to maintain greenhouse laboratory. Requires normal hearing and speaking skills to communicate with staff and students. Requires visual acuity to read numbers, words and identify plants. Sixty percent or more of the time duties require standing, and 20 percent requires some kneeling, stooping, or crouching, plus lifting of light to medium weight (10 to 50 pounds).

Work may be performed indoors in a classroom environment, in a greenhouse lab or on occasional field trips. Substantial time is spent working at a computer.

Essential Duties:

Applicants must possess a combination of academic preparation and professional experience that demonstrates the ability to:

* Teach Agricultural Sciences classes.

* Prepare and develop materials for classes utilizing approved course outcomes.

* Complete all administrative tasks associated with teaching a course: assign and grade student work, establish reasonable communication with students, report student attainment of course outcomes, maintain student records, comply with college policies and processes related to teaching workload.
