Position: [POOL] PT Faculty, Political Science

Overview

Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Political Science, or 27 graduate quarter hours in Political Science.
  • Teaching experience.
  • The ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and to operate as an effective member of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer teaching experience in a community college.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.

Responsibilities
  • Teach introductory Political Science courses as needed.
  • Act as a team member of the Social Science Department.
  • Communicate the objectives of each course taught, grade according to those objectives, and report student progress toward those goals.
  • Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages and interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an educational team.
  • Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable out-of-class contact with students.
  • Prepare course descriptions, course outlines, and other material related to courses taught.
  • Establish and maintain a class roll, and teach in conformance with approved course outlines.
  • Participate in Student Appraisal of Classroom Learning.

Salary and Compensation Information:
Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New Part-time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the payscale, with steps being rolled once per term, if eligible. Salary details include tables illustrating cost per credit for each step and compensation per hour for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work.

Requirements and Conditions
  • As a condition of employment, all new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
  • Offers of employment are contingent on the applicant having Oregon residency at the time work commences.
  • Employment is subject to completion of a post-offer criminal background check.
  • Linn-Benton Community College does not offer visa sponsorship. Within three days of hire, you will be required to complete the US Department of Homeland Security’s Form I-9 confirming authorization to work in the United States.
