This is a part-time position that works 5–15 hours per week. The position is primarily intended to provide reference desk services, collection development, library systems support and information literacy instruction.
Required QualificationsApplications are reviewed for minimum qualifications. In order to be considered, your application must clearly show you meet the minimum qualifications for this position.
- Master’s degree or 27 graduate credits hours in Library Science or Information Science, from an ALA-accredited institution, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Knowledge of information literacy concepts, teaching and assessment methods, and instructional and library technology.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with faculty, staff and students of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages.
- Experience working in an academic library environment.
- Requires the ability to work with staff and students.
- Work is performed primarily in a library setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
- Provide individual, class and course-integrated instruction, and conduct orientation tours and public relations/services.
- Collaborate with classroom faculty and librarians to prepare online research guides and bibliographies.
- Help faculty identify books and other materials for addition to/removal from the library collection.
- May provide instruction and tutorials to distance learners via course management software.
- Maintain familiarity with, and knowledge of, current library technologies and their applications.
- Participate as a team member of the library.
- Perform other duties as required to carry out the objectives of the position.
Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New Part-time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps being rolled once per term, if eligible.
- Table 1 illustrates the cost per credit for each step on the pay scale. Instructors new to the College typically start at the rate listed in column 1.
- Table 3 illustrates the compensation per hour for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work.
- As a condition of employment, all new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
- Offers of employment are contingent on the applicant having Oregon residency at the time work commences.
- Employment is subject to completion of a post-offer criminal background check.
