Job Summary

This posting is for a pooled position. The College will review applications from the pool and interview candidates whose qualifications best match the specific opening. Teaches core Political Science classes.

Essential Duties

Teach introductory Political Science courses as needed.

Act as a team member of the Social Science Department.

Communicate the objectives of each course taught, grade according to those objectives, and report student progress toward those goals.

Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages and successfully interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an educational team.

Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable out‑of‑class contact with students.

Prepare course descriptions, course outlines, and other material related to courses taught.

Establish and maintain a class roll, and teach in conformance with approved course outlines.

Participate in Student Appraisal of Classroom Learning.

Education and Experience

Master’s degree in Political Science, or 27 graduate quarter hours in Political Science.
Teaching experience.
The ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and to operate as an effective member of a team.
Prefer teaching experience in a community college.

Employment Requirement

Criminal Background Check - C4.

Salary and Compensation Information

Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New Part‑time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps being “rolled” once per term if eligible.

Table 1 illustrates the cost per credit for each step on the pay scale. Instructors new to the College typically start at the rate listed in column 1.
Table 3 illustrates the compensation per hour for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work.

As a condition of employment, all new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
Offers of employment are contingent on the applicant having Oregon residency at the time work commences.
