Job Summary

This posting is for a pooled position. Application submissions for “[ POOL ]” positions are accepted on an ongoing basis to ensure a continuous and ready pool of qualified candidates for immediate review when the need arises. If/when a position becomes available, the College will review applications from this pool, and interview candidates whose qualifications best match the specific opening. Applicants must reapply to the pool annually to maintain their active status in the pool.

This is a part-time position that works 5–15 hours per week. The position is primarily intended to provide reference desk services, collection development, library systems support and information literacy instruction.

Essential Duties
  • Provide individual, class and course‑integrated instruction, and conduct orientation tours and public relations/services.
  • Collaborate with classroom faculty and librarians to prepare online research guides and bibliographies.
  • Help faculty identify books and other materials for addition to / removal from the library collection.
  • May provide instruction and tutorials to distance learners via course management software.
  • Maintain familiarity with, and knowledge of, current library technologies and their applications.
  • Participate as a team member of the library.
  • Perform other duties as required to carry out the objectives of the position.
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
    • Requires the ability to work with staff and students.
    • Work is performed primarily in a library setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
    Education and Experience

    Applications are reviewed for minimum qualifications. In order to be considered, your application must clearly show you meet the minimum qualifications for this position.

    • Master’s degree or 27 graduate credits hours in Library Science or Information Science, from an ALA‑accredited institution, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
    • Knowledge of information literacy concepts, teaching and assessment methods, and instructional and library technology.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with faculty, staff and students of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages.
    • Experience working in an academic library environment preferred.

    Courses are paid on a per‑credit basis. New Part‑time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps being “rolled” once per term, if eligible.
