This posting is for a pooled position. Application submissions for “[ POOL ]” positions are accepted on an ongoing basis to ensure a continuous and ready pool of qualified candidates for immediate review when the need arises. If/when a position becomes available, the College will review applications from this pool, and interview candidates whose qualifications best match the specific opening.
Applicants must reapply to the pool annually to maintain their active status in the pool.
ResponsibilitiesAssist with the development of fundamental electrical and mechanical courses that focus on the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of industrial systems used in food processing, forest products, and manufacturing facilities including advanced climate control systems. Ability to fabricate hands‑on trainers.
- Assist in the development and instruction of a wide variety of courses in electrical systems, computer control of mechanical, electro‑mechanical systems.
- Advise students in educational planning and workplace readiness issues.
- Assist with program recruitment and placement.
- Assist with the maintenance of a sophisticated manufacturing process lab.
- Prepare and develop materials for classes utilizing approved course outcomes. Depending on the course assignment, you may be asked to use a curriculum developed by the department.
- Complete all administrative tasks associated with teaching a course: assign and grade student work, establish reasonable communication with students, report student attainment of course outcomes, maintain student records, comply with college policies and processes related to teaching workload.
- Keep abreast of development in subject area and educational technology, innovative teaching techniques, and continuously strive for professional improvement.
- Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable and consistent out‑of‑class contact with students.
- Assure that lab equipment is appropriately used, following all safety protocols and procedures. Verify that all equipment is accounted for at the end of each laboratory section.
- Exemplify and promote the mission of LBCC.
- Connect students to college support services and resources to promote student success and retention. Maintain reasonable communication with college support services to this end.
- Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages. Promote both a classroom environment and a curriculum of equity and inclusivity.
- Interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of a team.
- Participate as assigned in occasional department and advisory meetings.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time in classroom and laboratory environments. Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate and demonstrate mechanical and electrical systems, use tools and test equipment, and fabricate training devices. Requires normal hearing and speaking skills to communicate with students and colleagues over background noise from lab equipment. Requires visual acuity to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and computer screens, and to monitor system performance.
Job duties require frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching; occasional kneeling, crouching, and lifting of light to medium weight (10–50 pounds), such as equipment components, tools, or instructional materials.
