Job Summary
This posting is for a pooled position in the Social Science Department. The College will review applications from this pool and interview candidates whose qualifications best match specific openings. Applicants must reapply annually to maintain active status.
Responsibilities- Teach core Religion classes, including introductory courses as needed.
- Act as a team member of the Social Science Department.
- Communicate objectives of each course, grade according to those objectives, and report student progress.
- Work effectively with students and staff of diverse backgrounds and ages, and interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an educational team.
- Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable out‑of‑class contact with students.
- Prepare course descriptions, outlines, and other materials related to courses taught.
- Maintain a class roll, teach in conformance with approved course outlines.
- Participate in Student Appraisal of Classroom Learning.
- Master’s degree in Theology or Philosophy, or completion of 27 graduate quarter hours in Religion, Philosophy or related discipline.
- The ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and to operate as an effective member of a team.
- Prefer teaching experience in a community college.
Work performed in an office or classroom setting, minimal exposure to safety hazards. Requires arm, hand, and finger dexterity to operate keyboard or other office equipment. Requires sufficient visual acuity, good hearing, and well‑developed speaking ability. Considerable time spent on a computer.
Employment Requirements- Criminal Background Check - C4.
- All new employees required to be compensated via direct deposit.
- Offers contingent on applicant having Oregon residency at time work commences.
- Completion of post‑offer criminal background check.
- No visa sponsorship provided. I-9 completion required within three days of hire.
Courses paid on a per‑credit basis. New Part‑time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps rolled once per term if eligible. Compensation per hour for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work outlined in internal tables.
