[POOL] PT Faculty, Non-Destructive Testing and Evaluation

Position Details

Appointment Type:
Part‑Time Hourly (non‑exempt). FLSA:

Location:

Albany Campus, Albany, OR.

Responsibilities
  • Create, oversee, and participate in learning environments that enable students to achieve learning objectives.
  • Instruct nondestructive testing series including ultrasonic (UT), radiography (RT), penetrant (PT) and magnetic particle (MT) at Levels I and II in accordance with SNT‑TC‑1A 1992 edition or later; may also teach courses in metallurgy, materials testing, related topics.
  • Establish relationships with local industry and schools.
  • Collaborate with industry and high school partners to research labor market needs and occupational demand.
  • Ensure program metrics align with college strategic goals of productivity, equity, and quality.
  • Consult and collaborate with local industry to recommend materials and equipment.
  • Plan, prepare, and participate in student recruitment.
  • Advise students on progression.
  • Evaluate students in classroom and laboratory; compile reports.
  • Serve as a member of the Advanced Manufacturing and Transportation Technology division.
  • Participate on department and college committees as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the Dean, Business, Applied Technology and Industry.
Qualifications
  • BS or BT in Metallurgy or Materials Science or related field, plus minimum two years’ work experience at a technical or professional level in metallurgy, materials or metals manufacturing or nondestructive testing (penetrant, ultrasonics, and radiography).
  • Associate’s degree may substitute for the required education if supplemented by additional related, professional level work experience beyond the two‑year requirement.
  • Knowledge of business and industry needs related to metallurgy, materials, nondestructive testing.
  • Broad knowledge in work processes and tasks related to metallurgy and materials testing including data acquisition, photo stress analysis, and statistical process control or quality control.
  • Organized, able to prioritize work, and follow through to completion of complex tasks.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills for networking and building business partnerships.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to encourage flexibility from others and provide guidance.
  • Knowledge of college and state regulations and processes for program development and approval.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Requires ability to work with staff and students.
  • Work performed primarily indoors in the NDT testing lab, with potential exposure to safety or health hazards, including radiation from X‑ray equipment.
Employment Requirements

Salary and Compensation

Courses paid on a per‑credit basis. New part‑time faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps rolled once per term if eligible.

  • Compensation per credit per step on pay scale (details available as table in posting).
  • Compensation per hour for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work.
  • All new employees compensated via direct deposit.
  • Offers contingent on Oregon residency at time work commences.
  • Employment subject to post‑offer criminal background check.
  • Linn‑Benton Community College does not offer visa sponsorship. In the first three days of hire, completion of Form I‑9 is required.
