Job Summary
This posting is for a pooled position. Applicants may apply to the [POOL] positions on an ongoing basis to ensure a continuous and ready pool of qualified candidates for immediate review when the need arises. Applicants must reapply annually to maintain active status.
Responsibilities- Teach General Sociology courses.
- Act as a team member of the Social Science Department and Arts & Communication Division.
- Communicate course objectives, grade according to objectives, and report student progress.
- Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages.
- Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable out-of-class contact with students.
- Prepare course descriptions, outlines, and other material related to courses taught.
- Establish and maintain a class roll, and teach in conformance with approved course outlines.
- Participate in Student Appraisal of Classroom Learning.
Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
Education and Experience- Master's degree in Sociology or minimum of 27 graduate quarter hours in Sociology.
- Teaching experience, preferably at the community college.
- Ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and to operate as an effective member of a team.
Criminal background check - C4.
Salary and Compensation Information- Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New part‑time faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps being rolled once per term if eligible.
- Compensation per hour for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work.
- All new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
- Offers of employment are contingent on the applicant having Oregon residency at the time work commences.
- Employment is subject to completion of a post‑offer criminal background check.
- Within three days of hire, the employee must complete the US Department of Homeland Security’s Form I‑9 confirming authorization to work in the United States.
