Job Summary
Posted as a pooled position, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis to build a ready pool of qualified candidates for immediate review when a specific opening arises. The role involves teaching courses in the economics curriculum, such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, or the Outline of Economics.
Responsibilities- Prepare and develop course materials utilizing approved outcomes and a variety of teaching modalities.
- Complete all administrative tasks: assign and grade work, maintain student records, communicate with students, and adhere to college policies concerning teaching workload.
- Keep abreast of developments in the subject area, educational technology, and innovative teaching techniques; pursue professional improvement.
- Establish and maintain reasonable out‑of‑class contact with students.
- Exemplify and promote the mission of LBCC.
- Connect students to college support services and resources to promote success and retention.
- Master’s degree in Economics or a related field, or a master’s degree in another field with at least 27 graduate quarter hours in the subject area to be taught.
- Provisional:
Bachelor’s degree plus 27 graduate quarter hours in the field, AND current pursuit of a master’s or doctoral degree. Applicants hired under this qualification may teach provisionally until proof of completion is provided.
- Recent teaching experience in a community college or university setting.
- Working knowledge of computer software and Learning Management Systems.
- Experience with synchronous and asynchronous online instruction.
- Expertise or experience teaching from a social‑justice perspective.
- Office or classroom setting with minimal safety hazards.
- Requires dexterity to operate keyboard and other office equipment.
- Requires adequate visual acuity, hearing, and speaking ability.
- Indefinite computer use indoors.
- Courses paid on a per‑credit basis; new part‑time faculty start at Step 1 of the pay scale and may advance once per term if eligible.
- On‑call compensation for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, and related work.
- Payment via direct deposit.
- Employment subject to criminal background check.
- Applicant must be an Oregon resident at time of commencement; no visa sponsorship provided.
