Position Title

[POOL] PT Faculty, Human Development and Family Science

This pooled position creates a ready pool of qualified candidates for immediate review when a part‑time teaching opening becomes available. The selected instructor will teach lower‑division general education and major‑required Human Development and Family Science classes at the Albany Campus of Linn‑Benton Community College.

• Teach Human Development and Family Sciences classes.
• Prepare and develop materials for classes utilizing approved course outcomes.
• Assign and grade student work; report student attainment of course outcomes.
• Keep abreast of development in subject area and educational technology, innovative teaching techniques, and continuously strive for professional improvement.
• Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable and consistent out‑of‑class contact with students.
• Exemplify and promote work within the mission of LBCC.
• Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages; promote a classroom environment and curriculum of equity and inclusivity.
• Interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of a team.
• Participate as assigned in occasional department and advisory meetings.

• Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Sciences, Child Development, Social Work, Education Counseling, or a related field.
• Demonstrated commitment to student‑centered principles and an understanding of the community college mission.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse individuals, including faculty, staff, and students.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Prefer recent college teaching experience, working knowledge of computer software and Learning Management Systems.
• Experience with synchronous and asynchronous online learning preferred.
• Expertise or experience in teaching from a social justice perspective.
• Experience teaching in a K‑12 environment preferred.

• Background check results do not automatically disqualify a candidate; additional screenings may be performed.

Courses are paid on a per‑credit basis. New part‑time faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps being "rolled" once per term if eligible.

• All new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
• Offers of employment are contingent on the applicant having Oregon residency at the time work commences.
• Employment is subject to completion of a post‑offer criminal background check.
• Linn‑Benton Community College does not offer visa sponsorship.
• Within three days of hire, employees must complete the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Form I‑9 confirming authorization to work in the United States.

Applicants must submit an unofficial academic transcript showing their qualifying degree. Transcripts from institutions outside the United States must be accompanied by an international credential agency evaluation. U.S. Veterans must attach proof of Veteran Status to qualify for veteran’s consideration.
