Job Summary
The posting is for a pooled position. Applications for the pool are accepted on an ongoing basis to ensure a continuous and ready pool of qualified candidates for immediate review when a specific opening arises. If a position becomes available, the College will review applications from this pool and interview candidates whose qualifications best match the opening. Applicants must re‑apply annually to maintain active status.
Responsibilities- Teach core Religion classes, including introductory courses as needed.
- Act as a team member of the Social Science Department.
- Communicate course objectives, grade according to those objectives, and report student progress.
- Work effectively with students and staff of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages.
- Establish and maintain reasonable out‑of‑class contact with students.
- Prepare course descriptions, outlines, and other instructional materials.
- Maintain a class roll and teach in conformance with approved outlines.
- Participate in Student Appraisal of Classroom Learning.
- Master’s degree in Theology or Philosophy, or completion of 27 graduate quarter hours in Religion, Philosophy or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and work effectively as a team member.
- Prefer teaching experience in a community college.
- Ability to formulate clear learning objectives and assess student performance.
- Proficiency in educational technology and online instructional tools.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety and health hazards. Tasks may require arm, hand, and finger dexterity to operate a keyboard or other office equipment. Visual acuity is required to read alphanumeric characters. Good hearing and speaking ability are necessary for effective communication with staff and students. A considerable amount of time is spent working on a computer.
Salaryand Compensation
Courses are paid on a per‑credit basis. New part‑time faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps rolled once per term if eligible. Compensation for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work is paid hourly based on the applicable step.
Additional Information- All new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
- Offers of employment are contingent upon possession of Oregon residency at the time work commences.
- Employment is subject to completion of a post‑offer criminal background check.
- Lint‑Benton Community College does not sponsor visas. New hires must complete Form I‑9 within three days of hire.
