Parenting Education Instructor
Job Summary: The Parenting Education instructor of a parent-child class is responsible for working with parents to deliver a quality educational experience for the children and a multi-level educational program for the enrolled parents. The instructor teaches in a classroom designed and equipped for parent-child learning, collaborates with the Parenting Education team, and participates in in‑services to support and strengthen the quality of educational services provided.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in pre‑service and in‑service training offered by the Parenting Education Department staff; learn the program philosophy, goals, and how to implement them in instructional activities.
- Use the Parenting Education Department resources, course outcomes outline, and best practices to plan and offer an educational program for parents and children.
- Develop an age‑appropriate education program for young children.
- Follow the policies and procedures outlined in instructor orientation.
- Coordinate facilities, recruit students, and participate in Family Fun Day and other department activities.
Physical Requirements and
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
Education and Experience: Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Human Development, Early Childhood Development, or a closely related area, with either three years of experience teaching groups of young children or seven years of teaching experience in early childhood, education, or a related area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to work collaboratively with staff and students.

- Criminal background check – C4.

- Unofficial academic transcript showing a qualifying degree.
- For transcripts from institutions outside the United States, an international credential agency evaluation is required.
- U.S. Veterans must attach proof of veteran status to qualify for veteran’s consideration.
Salary and Compensation:
Courses are paid on a per‑credit basis. New part‑time faculty begin at Step 1 of the payscale, with steps being rolled once per term if eligible. Compensation details for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work are outlined on the College website.
