Position: [POOL] PT Faculty, Phlebotomy

Job Overview

This pooled position will teach Phlebotomy courses within the Phlebotomy Program. The faculty will deliver lectures and skills labs covering subjects such as Medical Terminology, Medical Law & Ethics, Anatomy & Physiology, Communication and Documentation, and EKG.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Phlebotomy classes in lecture and skills lab settings.
  • Prepare and develop materials for classes using approved course outcomes.
  • Assign and grade student work; report student attainment of course outcomes.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the subject area and educational technology, employing innovative teaching techniques and pursuing professional improvement.
  • Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable and consistent out‑of‑class contact with students.
  • Use the college Learning Management System to deliver curriculum and communicate with students effectively.
  • Work with the department chair and program colleagues to develop curriculum; evaluate and recommend teaching materials.
  • Promote student learning and skill attainment, providing resources and support to students as needed.
  • Work effectively with students and staff of diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and age backgrounds, promoting equity and inclusivity in the classroom.
  • Interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of a team.
  • Participate as assigned in department and advisory meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in an office, classroom, or lab setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
  • Working with ionizing imaging equipment is required.
  • May require arm, hand, and finger dexterity to operate a keyboard or other office equipment.
  • Requires sufficient visual acuity to recognize alphanumeric characters.
  • Requires good hearing and well‑developed speaking ability to communicate with staff and students.
Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree in a related health occupations area, plus a minimum of four years of successful work experience as a phlebotomist, medical technician, RN, or related field.
  • OR a minimum of seven years of experience in the occupational area.
  • OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Teaching/training experience is preferred.
  • Must be certified through a national phlebotomy accrediting body such as ASCP, NHA, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities.

Salary and Compensation Information

Courses are paid on a per‑credit basis. New Part‑time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps being rolled per term if eligible.

  • Table 1 illustrates the cost per credit for each step on the pay scale. Instructors new to the College typically start at the rate listed in column 1.
  • Table 3 illustrates the compensation per hour for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work.

All new employees must be compensated via direct deposit, and offers are contingent on Oregon residency at the time work commences and completion of a post‑offer criminal background check. The College does not offer visa sponsorship. Within three days of hire, the employee will complete the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Form I‑9 confirming authorization to work in the United States.
