General
Purpose:
Responsible for the mechanical design and mechanical deliverables for industrial engineering and construction projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Manage the creation of mechanical engineering deliverables for industrial EPC projects including equipment sizing calculations, equipment data sheets and specifications, equipment requisitions, equipment bid tabulations, mechanical component specification, pipe specifications, pipe code calculations, insulation specifications, coatings specifications, pipe stress calculations, reports, lists (mechanical equipment, line, instrument, tie point, service index, etc.), input into P&IDs, CAD Model, and piping deliverables.
- Advise on design principles and standards.
- Develop concepts and coordinate the completion of associated 3D models with the design team.
- Lead Design Reviews.
- Provide project estimating support for proposals.
- Lead and/or support multiple projects at any given time.
- Provide technical support for ongoing construction projects or operating sites.
- Visit project sites for prebid meetings, information gathering, design review meetings, etc.
- Work for extended periods at project locations.
- Develop and promote good customer relationships, both internal and external.
- Effectively communicate and project the principles of the Talent Advantaged Roadmap.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.
- Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology.
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of industry standards, engineering practices, good mechanical aptitude, and general knowledge of heavy industrial EPC projects.
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of design code standards and specifications (ASME, ASCE, ACI, AISC, IBC).
- Basic technical writing skills.
- Ability to organize, allocate, prioritize, review, instruct, and coordinate with colleagues.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills at all levels within the company.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Proficient in engineering and design tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion, CAESAR, etc.) is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, with advanced skills in Excel.
