Selmet is seeking a Principal Quality Engineer to lead quality engineering for our precision titanium castings in Springfield, OR. In this on-site role, you will own advanced quality planning, process control, and problem solving for aerospace and defense components. You will develop control plans and PFMEA, drive root cause analysis and corrective actions, and support AS9100 and customer audits. Partnering closely with engineering and operations, you will reduce defects and scrap, improve capability, and mentor the quality team in data-driven, continuous improvement practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead quality planning and assurance for precision titanium casting manufacturing lines
- Develop and maintain control plans, PFMEA, and inspection methods
- Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Analyze yield, defect, and process capability data to reduce variation and scrap
- Support AS9100, NADCAP, and customer audits and maintain compliance
- Collaborate with engineering and production to launch and optimize new products
- Train and mentor engineers and technicians on quality tools and standards
- Champion continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
Required Skills
- AS9100 quality management
- Advanced quality planning (APQP, control plans, PFMEA)
- Root cause analysis (5-Why, Fishbone)
- Statistical process control (SPC)
- GD&T and dimensional inspection
- MSA and gage R&RNonconformance and CAPA management
- Data analysis and reporting (Excel/Minitab)
- Lean/Six Sigma methods
- Aerospace manufacturing processes and standards
