Industrial Automation Engineer

PCT - Pacific Cast Technologies seeks an Industrial Automation Engineer to support advanced aluminum investment casting operations in Salem, OR. In this precision-driven, safety-focused environment, you will design, program, and optimize automation and control systems for furnaces, robotics, and material handling. Responsibilities include troubleshooting PLCs and HMIs, improving process reliability, supporting new equipment installations, and collaborating with engineering, maintenance, and production to enhance quality, throughput, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and maintain PLC and HMI-based automation systems
• Troubleshoot controls, robotics, and instrumentation to minimize downtime
• Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of automated equipment
• Analyze production data to improve process stability, throughput, and quality
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations on automation projects
• Develop and maintain controls documentation, schematics, and standards
• Implement safety interlocks and ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Provide technical training and support for maintenance and production teams
• Participate in continuous improvement and root-cause problem-solving efforts
• Coordinate with vendors and integrators on controls hardware and software
