Logistics Coordinator

Primary PurposeUnder the general supervision of the OSP Manager, a Logistics Coordinator supports day‑to‑day leadership in Safety, Quality, Throughput, and Cost. This person uses judgment to identify and resolve day‑to‑day technical and logistical problems and serves as the internal point person for Selmet Shipping and Receiving.
Duties and Responsibilities- Lead a zero‑injury culture through continuous improvement and employee engagement.
- Maintain daily contacts and teamwork to foster trust, and ultimately, a larger group of active problem‑solvers.
- Manage daily shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely and accurate processing of shipments.
- Provide support, feedback, task assignments, training program engagement, and work instructions to individuals within the team.
- Provide day‑to‑day support to a shipping/receiving team including the coordination of activities and measuring/communicating performance versus plan.
- Manage customer shipping portals.
- Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular audits, and coordinate with procurement to maintain stock accuracy and prevent shortages.
- Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, including bills of lading, packing lists, and customs documentation.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., sales, planning, operations) to facilitate efficient supply chain operations.
- Address and resolve any shipping or receiving discrepancies, damages, or delays, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Develop and recommend improvements to shipping and receiving processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions and applying technical experience and precedents.
- Ensure that all shipping and receiving equipment is properly maintained and operated safely.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a lead or crew coordinator in a production environment preferred.
- General understanding of Shipping/Receiving best practices.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving regulations, including hazardous materials handling.
- 3 years’ experience in shipping/receiving/logistics preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be willing to undergo a pre‑employment background check.
- Must be willing to participate in pre‑employment drug screening.
- Must be willing/available to work/change shifts, as needed.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment.
- Day shift (M–F).
