Logistics Coordination, Transportation & Logistics
Position Summary
The Project Logistics Lead owns a portfolio of MEI projects and serves as the single logistics point of contact for internal project teams and external stakeholders. Building on the Logistics Analyst role, this position advances from executing individual transportation tasks to owning end-to-end logistics outcomes for assigned projects. The Project Logistics Lead plans deliveries around project schedules, sources carriers from MEI's approved network, and ensures every shipment arrives on schedule and on budget.
This role anticipates project needs, resolves transportation issues independently, provides cost and status visibility to project managers, and serves as a senior resource and informal guide to Logistics Analysts.
- Own a portfolio of assigned MEI projects end-to-end, serving as the single logistics point of contact for project managers, site teams, and external stakeholders throughout each project's lifecycle.
- Partner directly with project managers to translate project schedules and site requirements into detailed delivery plans, sequencing shipments so that materials and equipment arrive when and where they are needed.
- Source, book, and dispatch carriers from MEI's approved carrier network; coordinate specialized or complex moves (oversized, heavy-haul, or shipments to remote or constrained job sites) and elevate new-carrier qualification needs to the Logistics Manager.
- Own on-time and on-budget performance across the assigned portfolio, managing freight cost and service outcomes rather than individual transactions.
- Proactively identify and resolve transportation issues — delays, routing challenges, capacity constraints, or equipment failures — exercising independent judgment and escalating only exceptions that require a management decision.
- Coordinate closely with warehouse teams to schedule inbound and outbound shipments, communicate project priorities, and ensure all parties understand project requirements, equipment characteristics, handling requirements, and delivery expectations.
- Provide project-level cost, status, and performance reporting to project managers, finance, and leadership, and maintain accurate, complete records for the portfolio in the transportation management software (TMS).
- Serve as a senior resource to Logistics Analysts by providing day-to-day guidance, reviewing work on shared projects, and helping establish consistent execution practices, without direct supervisory authority.
- Support requests for quotes, rate benchmarking, and new-lane pricing with project data and carrier knowledge, as directed by the Logistics Manager.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project-logistics processes, standards, and playbooks.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation and safety regulations across assigned projects.
- Complete other duties as assigned and necessary.
