The Vertical Mill Machinist is a full-time non-exempt position.

Swing Shift 4:00pm - 2:30am

$22-36 hourly, plus $2 shift differential

Machine parts to tolerance based on blueprint requirements with a variety of metals and plastics using CNC machines.

The position will provide support in the following areas:

• Obtain approval prior to changing, editing, or updating any CNC programs, and maintain program log as required by management business systems.
• Understanding of Conversational & G‑code controls.
• Plan machining by studying work orders, drawings, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
• Ability to select cutting tools for optimum performance in a variety of metals and plastics.

• Obtain and execute directions from the Department Supervisor.
• Monitor and protect the assets of the company and ensure that appropriate tooling is used for each job.
• Set‑up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three‑ and four‑jaw chucks, vises, tools, various attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
• Adhere to all quality policies and meet company quality goals of on‑time delivery of completed parts without compromising quality, safety or equipment life.
• Set up milling machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tools, offsets, and tool compensation; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.

• Verify settings by measuring positions, first‑run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to quality standards.
• Maintain quality standards by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Identify errors and troubleshoot as possible. Escalate unresolved issues to supervisor.
