Position Title: [Learn/Earn] Farm Assistant

Location: Albany Campus, Albany, OR

Salary Grade: Minimum Wage

Salary Rate: $15.55

This posting is for a Learn & Earn position. To be eligible for Learn & Earn positions you must maintain enrollment in at least six (6) credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term and maintain acumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better (some positions may require a higher GPA ).

• Requires good hand-eye coordinator and manual dexterity sufficient to operate hand tools, machines and equipment.
• Considerable physical effort including lifting over 50 pounds(bales, other), and working with large animals.
• Requires ability to bend, climb, kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, guide, reach, etc.
• Must have visual acuity to read words and numbers and operate equipment.
• Requires ability to walk and stand for extended periods oftime.
• Work is performed outdoors and in outdoor structures (horsebarns) in a farm setting with exposure to inclement weather.
• Some exposure to safety or health hazards (equipment noise,odor, manure, blood and fluids, farm chemicals).
• Required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or duringcollege closures.

Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term and maintain acumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better (some positions may require a higher GPA ), and have financial aid in place to be eligible to work in a Work Study student employee capacity atLinn-Benton Community College. Must have the abilityto work with farm tools, machinery and equipment, and doing basicfacility cleaning and maintenance.

Experience handling horses,preferred.

• Must have good communication skills to interact withco-workers, college staff and students.
• Must be knowledgeable in handling and caring for horses or havethe ability to learn.
• Must be familiar with rules and procedures and emergencyprotocol of a horse facility or have the ability to learn.
• Requires the ability to learn, understand and follow procedures, rules and protocol. Requires ability to work independently.
• Must have the ability to operate farm tools, machinery and equipment (shovel, rake, wheelbarrow, tractor, etc.)
• Requires the ability to handle large, live animals.
