Primary PurposeUnder the general supervision of the Quality Manager, the QC Supervisor leads a team/shift in the areas of Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost. The supervisor coaches and empowers quality personnel to make informed decisions guided by policies, procedures, and a business plan, while meeting performance targets and resolving operational problems.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and assess processes and policies for testing products and services.
- Monitor and evaluate current processes, recommending improvements when necessary.
- Enforce regulatory compliance.
- Conduct visual and physical inspections of company products and materials.
- Monitor the performance of the quality control staff to meet organizational objectives.
- Lead a zero‑injury culture through continuous improvement and employee engagement.
- Maintain daily contacts and teamwork to foster trust and problem‑solving.
- Support life‑threat programs and identify improvement opportunities.
- Demonstrate continuous improvement of safety procedures that benefit all business areas.
- Initiate and coordinate hiring and termination processes.
- Provide leadership, feedback, performance reviews, wage adjustments, personnel assignments, training program management, and coaching.
- Provide day‑to‑day supervision, coordinate activities, and communicate performance versus plan.
- Resolve problems by selecting solutions and applying technical experience.
- Collaboratively problem‑solve with engineering, operations, and maintenance.
- Lead specific projects with cross‑functional teams to achieve improvements.
- Ensure team productivity, maintain right‑first‑time performance measurements, and teach problem‑solving skills.
- Contribute to improved metrics for tracking individual and team achievement of objectives.
- Optimize equipment and labor cost‑effectively through scheduling and resource planning.
- Set schedules and review/approve employee timecards.
- Technical writing.
- Document control.
- Lean and/or continuous improvement knowledge preferred.
- Proficient computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a lead or supervisor in a quality control environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, or Engineering considered in lieu of experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Willing to undergo a pre‑employment background check and periodic drug screening.
- Willing and available to work or change shifts as needed.
- Work performed in a manufacturing environment.
