Position Title
[POOL] Catering Assistant
Job SummaryPerforms basic catering service duties for Culinary Arts Catering, including preparation of food items, serving, and set‑up and/or takedown of events. Assists Catering Division employees with other tasks as needed.
Essential DutiesLong periods standing plus light to medium work, including kneeling, and carrying and lifting of light to medium weight materials (10 to 50 pounds). Must be able to operate a computer and general office equipment. Requires ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone. Work is normally performed in a kitchen setting with some safety hazards. Some weekend and evening hours, and occasional travel to offsite may be required.
Education and Experience- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Food Handler’s card or ability to obtain it within 30 days of employment.
- Preferred:
Minimum one year of experience in food service with kitchen equipment such as knife, meat slicer, dishwasher, deep fryer, flat top grill, convection ovens, range, and robot coupe food processor.
- High school level reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
- Knowledge of kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Understanding of safety and sanitation practices and procedures.
- Strong customer relations skills.
- Ability to carry out duties independently.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and safety materials.
- Understanding of labels and instructions for detergents and chemicals.
- Ability to handle food and equipment in a manner meeting health and safety standards.
- Ability to work safely around hot surfaces and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to receive and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Teamwork and promotion of harmonious relationships.
- Customer interaction that reflects positively on the department.
- Respectful interaction with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities.

CompensationAll Part‑time Classified employees begin at Step 1 of the salary schedule, corresponding to the position’s grade. Placement at a higher step is not negotiable. Step increases are subject to eligibility, and only take place at the end of the fiscal year in July if approved by the employee’s supervisor of record. Hours worked in more than one position or department cannot be combined for step advancement.
Part‑time Classified employees are paid once monthly, on the last day of the month.

- LBCC offers a pay incentive to eligible employees who demonstrate proficiency in conversational Spanish or other eligible languages.
- Eligibility for bilingual pay incentive is subject to the provisions of Administrative Rule 6025‑06.
- All new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
- Offers of employment are contingent on the applicant having Oregon residency at the time work commences.

- Employment is subject to completion of a post‑offer criminal background check.

- Within three days of hire, the new employee must complete the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Form I‑9.
