The City of Albany is currently accepting applications for a full-time Transit Driver/Operator position.We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to operate diesel and gasoline-powered buses on established routes, assist passengers, and maintain non-mechanical aspects of the buses. Operates transit buses on various established assigned routes and adheres to schedule safely and legally.

Responds to public inquiries about bus schedules and procedures; and provides assistance when necessary.

Maintains an accurate accounting of daily passenger sheets, vehicle maintenance check forms, and other related records that may be required.

Reports any changes to assigned routes or stops and all bus and passenger accidents immediately to supervisor.

Responsible for passengers' safety including the enforcement of passenger regulations such as no smoking or eating on the bus.

Performs daily vehicle safety checks before operating the bus and reports any vehicle malfunctions to supervisor.

Maintains buses including fueling and cleaning; ensures supervisor is aware of routine service and repair needs of assigned vehicles.

May perform minor maintenance such as changing lamps as needed.

Represents the City of Albany by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor. Regards everyone, internal and external, as a customer and deliver the best service possible in a respectful and patient manner.
