Position: Driver - CDL (A) with Tanker Endorsement

Position Summary

A Driver – CDL (A) is responsible for safely operating a heavy commercial truck, a tractor trailer or a straight truck with a pup trailer, or other vehicle requiring a class A CDL, to provide prompt and courteous delivery and removal of large containers. The Driver – CDL (A) ensures that the vehicle is in compliance with the Company’s safety standards, adheres to all state and federal regulations, and completes vehicle condition reports (VCRs) daily to guarantee timely repairs.

Principal

Responsibilities
  • Perform complete pre‑ and post‑operation inspections of the vehicle, ensuring tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls function properly; report any safety issues on standard reports.
  • Safely operate the heavy truck along designated routes to disposal sites, following route sheets, maps, and customer assignments.
  • Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
  • Courtly interact with all customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform minor repairs to containers on site or in the container yard.
  • Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to departmental procedures.
  • Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
  • Clean area around accidental waste spills, maintaining safety standards and policies.
  • Monitor vehicle condition to stay operationally ready, minimizing downtime; clean waste from the container and its edges on each disposal trip.
  • Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and other reports.
  • Maintain adherence to productivity standards so customers are serviced efficiently.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional, courteous, and cooperative manner toward customers and co‑workers; works with honesty and trustworthiness.
  • Strong time‑management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
  • Good follow‑through ability; adheres to work schedules and addresses challenges as they arise.
  • Adheres to Company policies and rules, promoting safety standards and avoiding inappropriate risks.
  • Prides in work and strives to achieve all goals.
  • Preferred:
    Two years of prior commercial truck driving experience.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude to perform minor container repairs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • ClassA Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement; must not have a manual transmission restriction.
