Adjunct Instructor – Nurse Aide/Medication Aide Programs (

Salary commensurate with education and experience. Telework options subject to change based on business needs.
Responsibilities- Provide effective didactic and skills instruction to engage an adult learner audience.
- Maintain a positive and safe learning environment, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Serve as a role model and advocate for student success.
- Hold review, remediation, and office hour sessions for students.
- Maintain participation and performance records.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff on curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment.
- Respond timely and appropriately to student, staff, and partner inquiries.
- Report incidents and participate in professional development and partner onboarding requirements.
- Maintain professional competence and certifications/licensure.
- Assist in student recruitment activities.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Current unrestricted RN or LPN license (Virginia or Compact multistate).
- Two years of experience as a registered nurse and at least one year of direct client care or supervisory experience in long‑term care services.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Commitment to community college philosophy and student success.
- Current AHA‑BLS CPR certification.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Nursing.
- Recent experience teaching Nurse Aide courses and preparing students for state exams.
- Satisfactory completion of a course in teaching adults.
- Experience teaching adult learners and/or in a community college.
- Experience teaching online and/or hybrid courses.
- Experience using Canvas or similar learning management system.
- Meet the VBON qualifications as a primary instructor: have two years’ experience as a RN within the previous five years.
- No required travel beyond campus/site locations assigned.
- References and criminal background checks required.
This is an on-campus position (not remote).
Courses may be offered day, evening, weekend and at various locations.
