Position: PT - Tutoring Specialist, Academic Support Center

Tutor and assist students in seated and virtual formats in a variety of subjects including but not limited to math, statistics, and chemistry. Tutoring may include time management, study skills, and test taking skills. Will work as a team member with faculty and staff across campus. Maintain records and prepare reports. This position reports to the Dean, Learning Resources & Grant Management.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or STEM field with experience teaching or tutoring math or science
  • Ability to track statistics on a semester basis
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, project management, and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree
  • Proficiency in upper-level math courses or advanced math skills
  • Proficiency in Chemistry
  • Experience with tutoring or mentoring students of all ages
  • Community College experience
Responsibilities
  • Tutor and assist students in person and virtually who are referred to the center, and work with instructors on the retention of students
  • Provide general assistance to students involving tutoring, academic issues, and other appropriate remediation strategies
  • Communicate the mission of the Academic Support Center to faculty and staff
  • Contribute to the Academic Support Center by developing online modules, in-person workshops, guides, etc. covering various topics
  • Mentor students on academic issues such as time management, study skills, test taking, test anxiety, etc.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with faculty and staff for the various programs by visiting classes, holding appropriate meetings, and providing updates on work with students
  • Develop and schedule operating hours of the Center in collaboration with other tutors and the Dean
  • Maintain accurate statistics relevant to the college and accreditation process
  • Provide support as needed to the Learning Resources Center
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Dean, Learning Resources & Grant Management
