o Advanced Primary Stroke Center
o Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
• Unit Information:
o Beds: 35
• Average Census: 22
o Minimum Experience required: 18 months Med/Tele RN exp (Resource Team requirement)
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred, will consider
• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o General Med/Surg patients - Stroke, CHF, COPD, Respiratory Illnesses, Diabetes, Post-Surgical, Behavioral Health, etc.
• Patient Ratios:
o RN: 1:5-6, acuity dependent - (surge staffing could increase ratios up to 1:7-8)
• Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)
• Skills required:
o Post-op care, Orthopedic experience, TPN, PPN
o General Med/Tele skillset: Stroke experience/NIH assessments, Chest tube management, PIV starts, trach care, Cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps, wound care
o Medication gtt management to include:
Cardiac drips (Diltiazem), Heparin, blood products, IVF
• Support within the Department:
o CNA? Duties? Yes - all duties within scope
o Receptionist/HUC? Only on dayshift
o Charge nurse - may or may not be in staffing
o Phlebotomy
o IV/VAT Team, only on dayshift
o Resource Nurse - as staffing allows
o RT, 24/7
o Hospitalist, 24/7
o Intensivist, 24/7
o Telemetry monitoring/tech - available for this unit but RN will have to read own Tele strips when floated to other units

o EMR: EPIC
o IV Pump:
Alaris
o Med dispensing:
Omnicell
o Monitors:
Phillips
o Unit specific equipment:
Masimo
• Floating:
If yes, where?
o Within Stanly - Med/Tele, ICU, PCU (if open), ED
o Within region and scope of practice
o Will be required to float per region needs - will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice - DECLINE if not agreeable
• Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
• If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
• Orientation (facility and unit):
o NEO
o 2 days departmental (we complete 3 days orientation at Stanly)
• Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: every other
o No call for Travelers
o Holiday Expectations:
Travelers will work 75% of holidays
o RTO:
Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays - must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
o Schedule cycle: every 4 weeks
