American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Telemetry position requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and the ability to float across a regional health system on night shift.
Details- Medical Telemetry unit within a 109‑bed, non‑teaching community hospital designated as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center
- 27‑bed unit with an average census of 20 patients
- Common diagnoses include stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed
- Patient–to–nurse ratio of 1:5–6 (acuity dependent); ratios may increase to 1:7–8 during surge staffing
- 12‑hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH — pediatrics only); candidates unwilling to float to all facilities within the region should not apply

- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in general Med/Tele skills including stroke care and NIH assessments, chest tube management, PIV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc.)
- Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF
- Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Unit is supported by CNAs, a charge nurse (who may or may not carry a patient assignment), 24/7 phlebotomy, 24/7 respiratory therapy, 24/7 hospitalist coverage, and telemetry monitoring technicians; HUC/receptionist available on day shift only
- No dedicated IV/VAT team on unit
- Orientation includes facility NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travel time between facilities is compensated when floating mid‑shift
- 75% holiday coverage required

Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
