American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience, with night shift hours and regional floating requirements.
Details- Work in a 27-bed Medical Telemetry unit with an average census of 20 patients
- Common diagnoses include stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed
- Patient ratios are 1:5-6 depending on acuity, with potential surge ratios up to 1:7-8

Philips - 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating is required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH – peds only); candidates must be agreeable to floating to all facilities in the region
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele nursing experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Required skills include stroke experience and NIH assessments, chest tube management, PIV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management)
- Proficiency with medication drip management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF
- Candidate's permanent address must be located at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN is required for consideration
- Advanced Primary Stroke Center designation; no trauma designation and not a teaching hospital
- Unit support includes CNAs, a charge nurse (who may or may not carry a patient assignment), 24/7 phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, hospitalist coverage, and telemetry monitoring/tech; unit receptionist/HUC available on day shift only
- Orientation includes facility NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to cover 75% of holidays
