RN - Med Surg/Tele
This position is for an RN specializing in Med Surg/Telemetry. The facility has 109 licensed beds and does not hold a trauma designation. It is not a teaching hospital and does not have residents or students. The unit comprises 27 beds with an average census of 20 patients. Patient types and common diagnoses include stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed.
Patient ratios are RN: 1:5-6, acuity dependent, with potential surge staffing increasing ratios up to 1:7-8. LPN ratios are similar, with the same surge staffing considerations. CNA ratio is 1:9. Support within the department includes CNAs who are certified to insert foleys and remove IVs for discharge, in addition to handling vitals and ADLs. Phlebotomy services are available 24/7. There is no designated IV/VAT team, but RT and Clientist services are available 24/7.
Telemetry monitoring and tech support are present. Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice. If floating mid-shift, the traveler will be compensated for travel time between facilities. Expect an every-other-weekend rotation with holiday expectations. Travelers will work approximately 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. If unable to meet contracted hours, additional time must be added to the end of the contract.
