Position:
Security Officer (part‑time, up to 29 hours per week, day shift)
- Monitor campus facilities by conducting regular rounds to ensure safety and security of community members.
- Lock and unlock college buildings, doors, and classrooms as required.
- Provide information and directions to visitors and community members.
- Notify campus police of suspicious persons, activities, or safety hazards found during duty.
- Maintain accurate records and logs of activity.
- Operate security & state vehicles.
- Respond to complaints and conduct preliminary investigations.
- Answer alarms and disturbances; call police, fire, & rescue in case of emergency and follow established procedures.
- Patrol among visitors and community members to preserve order and protect property.
- Answer phones professionally.
- Patrol parking lots, issue warnings for rule infractions or law violations, and write tickets for parking violations.
- Escort individuals to specified locations via vehicle or golf cart, and provide limited aid during vehicle problems.
- Monitor and check fire & safety devices.
- Maintain dependable attendance and be available for contact during emergencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to assist the agency or state government during emergencies declared by the Governor.
- Excellent customer service, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate with team members and take directions from multiple individuals.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver’s license with good driving history.
- Background review clearance (criminal and driving history).
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Basic knowledge of campus environment, security industry, relevant laws, and safety and fire prevention.
- Prior experience in Criminal Justice or related field OR two years law enforcement experience.
- Strong student orientation and customer focus.
- Strong service orientation; ability to work in a diverse, multicultural community with excellent written and verbal skills.
