Salary: $15 per hour

This monitor works as needed to support bus riders in the Albemarle district. Routes and route times will vary.

• Assist students with special needs during boarding and disembarking.
• Ensure the safe and orderly conduct of students on the bus.
• Provide instruction regarding proper safety and seat belt use.
• Participate in scheduled emergency bus evacuation drills.
• Assist parents and school personnel with safe loading and unloading of students.
• Complete any additional assignments assigned by the supervisor.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience working with children.
• High school/trade school degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

• General knowledge of operating a school bus, geography of the district, and safe operation of a school bus.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to detect malfunctioning equipment.
• Patience and understanding to assist children.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, associates, students, parents, and the general public.

• Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds.
• Potential standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
• Standard vision, vocal communication, and hearing requirements.
• Visual inspection of small defects and operation of machines or motor vehicles.
• May be required to work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather, vibration, fumes, toxins, blood borne pathogens; protective equipment may be necessary.
• Moderately noisy location.
