Role Overview
The Material Handler assists in the shipping and receiving area and across manufacturing departments, ensuring efficient movement of materials within the facility.
Position DescriptionMove materials, supplies and finished goods on and off trucks to designated places within the facility.
Essential Functions- Responsible for the unloading and loading of trucks, vans, flatbeds, forklift etc.
- Handling of material and product within the shipping and receiving area and throughout the manufacturing departments as required.
- Manually or using hand truck to perform various material handling duties in the facility.
- Manually load raw material or finished product on skid or hand truck.
- Manually handle railroad car dock boards and wooden and steel bracing materials or railroad car dunnage bags. Open or close car doors and prepare cars or trucks for shipment.
- Stack skids or pallets in designated areas. Clean up and dispose of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping and place in proper containers or designated areas.
- Use tools such as hammers and crowbars to remove strapping, open crates, strap cars.

Requirements- High School diploma
- Forklift training certificate
- Basic math skills
- Good communication skills
- Computer skills with basic keyboarding and data entry
- Well organized and accurate
- Requires multi-tasking & flexibility to meet department needs
- Applicable training will be completed by following the syllabi (Human Resources, Safety, IFS - Time clock, IFS - Navigation, ISO, Inspection Hand Tools, Inspection Forms, CMM, and Technical) for each new hire and that will be verified by the Employee Orientation & Job Qualification form within the first 60 days of employment. Additional applicable training will be completed by following the individual’s assigned department training matrix, Shipping and Receiving (F).
- Follow training syllabus (Technical from above list). The effectiveness of training guidelines will be determined by employee knowledge and demonstration of learned concepts. Additional training after the first several weeks of on-the-job training will be determined by the Supervisor in preparation to operate on their own as needed. Any follow-up training will be evaluated and provided at the 60-day review or as deemed necessary for the position.
