Security Officer

Overview

Mayo Clinic Global Security Officers provide a professional level of customer service and security presence. A Security Officer will proactively patrol Mayo Clinic property and security sensitive areas. They will assist visitors, patients and staff as needed and help prevent and deter fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, etc.

• Proactively patrol Mayo Clinic property and security sensitive areas and provide professional customer service and security presence.
• Assist visitors, patients and staff as needed; help prevent and deter fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and other security incidents.
• Utilize security vehicle on a regular or occasional basis; enforce Mayo policies; respond to complaints and service calls for wrongdoing; prepare incident reports and activity logs; may work in the Security control centers.
• Adapt to unpredictable and stressful situations; manage altercations and emergency crises in an effective and professional manner; operate and communicate on a two-way radio; demonstrate good judgment, maturity, initiative, tact and diplomacy when dealing with people in stressful situations.
• Conduct or assist with emergency evacuations for patients, volunteers, visitors, and staff, including evacuation in stairwells and use of emergency evacuation devices to transport people to safety; coordinate with other emergency responders, including law enforcement and fire/rescue personnel.
• Physical requirements:
  
  frequently walk, stand, stoop, bend, lift, pull, climb, reach, push; may move quickly up and down stairwells and between building floors without assistance.

• They may be required to work nights and weekends for security and protection assignments or during emergency or special situations.
• This position may be required to carry and deploy a taser.
