Seasonal Summer Recreation Positions

Overview

Albert Lea Parks & Recreation has a variety of Aquatic Center and Recreation job opportunities for the 2025 summer season. Interviews will begin in March/April.

Pay Range: $

• Supervise daily operation of Attendants and lifeguards according to established policies and guidelines
• Monitor lifeguard/attendants’ schedules and adjust as needed
• Assign attendant/lifeguard tasks as needed
• Ensure all staff rules, regulations and safety practice are property enforced
• Ensure a healthy and sanitary facility
• Ensure admissions policies are completed to the standard outlined in the City of Albert Lea Cash Handling policies and procedures established by the parks department
• Ensure guests receive appropriate first aid and proper documentation is completed and reported
• Possess a thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance
• Familiar with emergency procedures. Recognize and maintain a high level of readiness to respond to emergency situations
• Assist guest and participants as needed, including administering basic First aid and lifeguarding skills as needed
• Inspect facilities and equipment on a daily schedule and report any unsafe condition to supervisor
• Perform light maintenance as required but not limited to general cleaning, emptying garbage cans and filling supplies
• Assist Aquatic Center Forman with pool operation duties such as testing chemicals, backwashing and changing baskets
• All other duties that apply

Pay Range: $

• Must be at least 15 years old
• Must hold or have the ability to Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
• Possess a thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance
• Familiar with emergency procedures. Recognize and maintain a high level of readiness to respond to emergency situations
• Assist guests and participants as needed, including basic first aid and lifeguarding skills as outlined by the American Red Cross and the Recreation department
• Inspect facilities and equipment on a regular basis and report any unsafe conditions to supervisor
• Perform light maintenance as required but not limited to general cleaning, empty garbage containers and filling products
• Attend meetings, in services and trainings as scheduled
• Enforce and uphold facility policies and procedures
• Complete other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Pay Range: $12-13

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Some customer service knowledge
• Must be willing to assist guests as needs may arise
• Perform light maintenance as required but not limited to general cleaning, empty garbage containers and filling products
• Enforce and uphold facility policies and procedures
• All other duties that apply
• Ensure admissions policies are completed to the standard outlined in the City of Albert Lea Cash Handling policies and procedures established by the parks department

Pay Range: $

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Must enjoy working with children
• Must be available to work play park schedule and other events as scheduled
• Enforce and uphold City of Albert Lea policies and procedures
• Perform light maintenance as required but not limited to general cleaning, empty garbage containers and filling products
• Complete records and reports
• Effectively monitor the behavior of participants to maintain order and safety
• Provide a safe, fun and learning environment for all participants
• All other duties as assigned

Pay Range: $

The Recreation Assistant is responsible for following the direction of the Recreation Coordinator in the execution of day-to-day operations of recreation programs for community members.

• Must have a valid driver's License.
• Enforce and uphold the City of Albert Lea policies and procedures.
• Assist with supervision and training of summer seasonal staff and volunteers.
• Must enjoy working with children.

Pay Range: $

• Supervise weekly scheduled volleyball league games
• Monitor gameplay to ensure league rules and sportsmanship are followed
• Start and end games on time
• Address participant questions or concerns in a professional manner
• Complete and submit game reports and score sheets
• Report any incidents, injuries, or facility issues to the Recreation Department
• Ensure a safe and positive environment for all players and spectators
