Highway Maintenance Worker

This position performs all activities required for roadside maintenance. Some of the other duties include:

• Perform all roadway surface maintenance activities
• Service and make minor repairs to operating equipment
• Provide traffic control
• Maintain roadways for snow and ice control
• Prepare and inspect winter equipment
• Perform preseason snow route inspection and perform post storm cleanup
• Perform winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing and de-icing chemicals
• Perform all work related to installing, repairing, maintaining, and removing snow fences, replacing mailboxes

Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no Airbrake Restriction or equivalent from another state and obtain a valid Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of initial placement into the position and maintain it as a condition of employment.

• One year of experience performing activities in snow and ice, soil, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities (roadway maintenance, driving commercial vehicles, commercial landscaping, operating heavy equipment, or farm experience).

• Successful completion of a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program (of at least 60 semester credits; or 90 quarter credits) will substitute for one year of experience. (In order for education to be considered in lieu of work experience you must submit a copy of your transcripts).
