• Road Surface/Roadway Maintenance
  • Perform all activities required for roadside maintenance
  • Perform all roadway surface maintenance activities
  • Service and make minor repairs to operating equipment
  • Provide traffic control
  • Perform basic construction monitoring duties and basic inspection activities
  • Other duties as required
• Snow and Ice Operations
  • Maintain roadways for snow and ice control
  • Prepare and inspect winter equipment
  • Conduct preseason snow route inspections and post‑storm cleanup
  • Set up and transfer winter stockpiles of anti‑icing and de‑icing chemicals
  • Install, repair, maintain, and remove snow fences and replace mailboxes
  • Maintain documentation on snow and ice data for accurate inventory and resource reporting
  • Set up traffic control and notify dispatch of disabled vehicles
• Work Schedule
  • Summer:
    Monday – Thursday, 6:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.;
    Friday 6:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
  • Winter:
    Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; or snow and ice shift A (12:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) or B (12:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.)
  • Hours may include overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays during emergency situations

• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no Airbrake Restriction (must obtain Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of placement)
• Drug and alcohol testing required; may need to pass a placement test for evidence of marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP, amphetamines, and acetyl morphine
• Registration in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Commercial Driver's License Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
• One (1) year of experience performing snow and ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signage, or related activities; or completion of a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program (at least 60 semester credits) as an education substitution
• Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information and to maintain routine logs and records
• Contingent offer candidates will be required to pass a computerized Math and Reading Assessment Test; math level 3+ and reading level 4+ are required
• Immediate availability to a phone and ability to report within one hour of being called
