Radiation Therapist, Medical Specialist
The Radiation Therapist applies ionizing radiation to patients in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist, Physicist, and Dosimetrist. This position functions under the authority of the Clinical Oncology Manager and reports to the Director of the Cancer Center. The Radiation Therapist assumes responsibility for all therapy modalities as they relate to simulation and treatment of patients. In addition, he/she may assist in the production ofvac lok, molds, head immobilization devices, electron block and CT simulations.
This Therapist works in conjunction with the other therapists in the Cancer Care Center to manage the needs of the radiation therapy area. These duties include but are not limited to: maintaining the treatment schedule, maintaining proper level of supplies, ensuring equipment is maintained properly, accurate and timely documentation, preparing administrative reports as requested, following all safety policies and procedures and being an ambassador for the good of the Cancer Care Center.
This position, like all positions in the Cancer Care Center, is important to the proper care of the oncology patient. The Therapist is expected to demonstrate professionalism, a positive attitude and a spirit of teamwork at all times.
Education: Graduate of accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program (accredited by Committee of Allied Health and Accreditation (AMA).
Licensure, registration and/or certification:Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy (T). Certified CPR Certification.
Additional skills/abilities preferred: Knowledge of Varian Equipment and ARIA
