IT Support Specialist – Albertville, AL
SummaryThe IT Support Specialist provides maintenance for the client computer environment by analyzing requirements, resolving problems, installing hardware and software solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Logs internal client calls for assistance and proposes solutions or directs their calls to those within the department who are responsible for resolving the issue.
- Monitors request backlog and follows-up on staff/department assignments to verify action is being taken/planned and that the client is being kept informed of the progress.
- Requests training as appropriate in meeting the requirements of the position.
- Assists writing Help Desk documentation for the staff and offers assistance to other Help Desk coordinators.
- Advises management of status of projects as required.
- Coordinates projects when needed.
- Is able to perform job with minimal assistance.
- Assists Programmer/Analysts with identifying the source of an application problem.
- Conducts group meetings and presentations within MIS as required.
- Fulfills management reporting requirements as may be requested.
Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or ExperienceAssociate's degree (A.
A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationMust have a valid driver's license and must be able to qualify for the company driver program.
Computer SkillsKnowledge of all Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office, and a very good understanding of PC, printer, and networking hardware.
Other QualificationsPerforms all aspects of the job with little assistance from others. Demonstrates a positive and helpful attitude in all aspects of the position and is able to perform all help-desk related tasks with minimal guidance. Makes an effort to stay current in the computer science field. Must have two or more years of experience in the help-desk function before being considered for promotion to the next level.
