A Cashier associate must provide aggressive customer service, greeting customers as they enter the store and handling the timely, accurate processing of customer transactions. The cashier also greets customers approaching the register, scans merchandise, processes all sales, refunds/exchanges, and uses the register to close transactions. The position includes training, maintenance, and stocking responsibilities, ensuring that the cashier serves as a first and last point of contact for customers leaving with a positive experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Operate in accordance with CNRG’s Mission and Values.
- Accurately process customer transactions—credit cards, cash, checks—in an orderly, timely, and friendly manner.
- Greet customers upon entry and exit, creating a lasting friendly impression.
- Verify merchandise quantities, descriptions, and prices for transaction accuracy.
- Handle returns, exchanges, and sales of merchandise.
- Answer incoming phone calls promptly, efficiently, and courteously.
- Receive payment on commercial accounts, collect COD tickets from drivers, and assist with credit applications.
- Complete and file due tickets for customers requiring later pick‑up.
- File rain checks for out‑of‑stock items.
- Count all tenders accurately, prepare deposits, and organize the cash drawer for the next day.
- Use the credit and check verification system per company policy.
- Ensure daily inflow and outflow paperwork—including filing and storage—is handled efficiently and precisely, producing necessary reports and documentation.
- Direct customers to store items and call teammates for assistance.
- Maintain responsibility for cash and controls to protect company assets.
- Maintain a positive customer‑service attitude at all times.
- Follow all cashier procedures.
- Determine differences between similar products accurately.
- Assist in keeping the store clean.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by store management.
Applicants must consistently demonstrate CNRG’s Mission and Values, possess strong oral and written communication skills, and be customer‑service oriented as well as team‑oriented. They must have good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Physical requirements include climbing ladders, reaching, bending, twisting, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs., handling large items, and stocking overhead areas. Candidates must accurately count denominations of money and maintain high product knowledge.
A flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, is required.
