What's your day like?

As a Staff Accountant at HME Specialists, you will play a crucial role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations while ensuring accurate financial reporting and adherence to internal controls. Your responsibilities will include preparing month-end close processes, managing journal entries, and compiling financial data in compliance with GAAP. You will collaborate with finance and cross-functional teams to complete general ledger account reconciliations and assist the Controller with onboarding new acquisitions.

This position also involves taking the lead in financial statement preparation and managing payroll processes across the organization. Additionally, you will actively contribute to various audits, maintain fixed asset records, and analyze financial information to identify any variances. Your commitment to confidentiality will protect the organization's value, while your expertise will help shape informed decision-making and support the overall financial health of HME Specialists.

What we're looking for in a Staff Accountant

To excel as a Staff Accountant at HME Specialists, you will need a solid educational foundation, including a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. The ideal candidate will possess 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience, demonstrating a working knowledge of GAAP principles. Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage/Intacct, Quick Books, Net Suite, SAP, or Oracle is essential, along with strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software is also necessary for effective communication and documentation. While CPA eligibility or progress toward certification is a plus, your analytical mindset and attention to detail will be critical in managing daily operations, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance. A collaborative spirit and strong problem-solving abilities will further enhance your success in contributing to our mission at HME Specialists.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting finance or a related field required.
  • 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g. Sage/Intacct, Quick Books, Net Suite, SAP, Oracle) preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • CPA eligibility or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Word Processing software;
    Spreadsheet software and Accounting software. Knowledge in Quick Books software.
