The UNM Bookstore seeks a student employee to assist with daily cash room duties. The successful candidate must have reliable availability from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday‑Friday during semesters and intersessions, and during breaks. Previous cash handling experience and attention to detail are required.
Responsibilities- Assist with daily cash room duties.
- Prepare cash receipts for bank deposit.
- Prepare daily cash reports.
- Balance cash drawers by reconciling cash, checks, credit card, and university charge receipts.
- Investigate and resolve any out‑of‑balance problems.
- Maintain confidentiality of university and student records.
Enrolled in an UNM degree‑seeking program at least half‑time (6 hours); audit hours do not count. If on work study, must meet satisfactory academic progress.
Preferred Qualifications- Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.
- Ability to calculate numbers, correct entries, and post to records.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Attention to detail.
- Account balancing skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
- Strong communication skills for explaining accounting information to customers.
- Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.
