Opening Date: 02‑23‑2026 – Close Date: 03‑06‑2026 – Target Pay Range/Rate: $22.750 per hour or $47,320 annually

The Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court is recruiting for a full‑time, permanent Judicial Specialist 2 # for the Probation Standard Division in Albuquerque, NM. Essential tasks include: manage court cases in a court of limited original jurisdiction, file court documents, respond to inquiries from the legal and law enforcement community and from the public, research automated and hard copy files for case status information, enter case information into an automated case management system, create and maintain hard copy case files, close case files, arrange for service and mail to parties, research defendant warrants and prior conviction history, flag drivers’ licenses, pull case files and court documents, coordinate completion of court documents, monitor and track sentence deferment and probation compliance records, review files for sentence deferments, maintain logs and records, and prepare statistical reports;

use a computer and computer software; and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Using the case management system to open, docket, and close cases based on judgement details.
  • Providing customer service information to a high volume of pro‑se litigants by giving general procedural information without giving legal advice.
  • Operating the case management system to open, docket, and close cases, including determining case type, assessing filing fees, entering data, scanning documents, linking related images, and recording closing events and disposition types.
  • Assessing, recording, and reconciling monies and preparing bank deposits; following cash handling procedures.
  • Processing, maintaining, and distributing documents, files, and case materials.
  • Using electronic filing to review incoming filings for format, signatures, event code, and filing fees.
  • Processing and expediting orders of protection.
  • Accurately disbursing bond payments and preparing and maintaining bond reports.
  • Reconciling billing and invoices from contracted vendors for Specialty Court Programs.
  • Preparing, proofreading, editing, and mailing documents such as notices and final orders.
  • Executing on case hearings, including orders to show cause, bench warrants, recusals, excusals, pleadings, and rule extensions.
  • Maintaining a cash till and ensuring court fees are accurately assessed, paid, receipted, and correctly recorded in the case management system.
  • Providing public case information to parties, attorneys, law‑enforcement agencies, and other outside agencies.
  • Ordering, reviewing, sorting, and organizing jury summons.
  • Preparing alpha list, random list, voir dire sheet, and seating chart for jury trials.
  • Organizing case files for microfilming, archiving, and destruction.
  • Preparing exhibits and hard copy case files.
  • Researching automated, hard copy, and microfiche files for case status data.
  • Certifying and preparing court records, tapes, logs, and exhibits for cases on appeal to higher courts.
  • Ensuring the office, courtrooms, and equipment are operational.
  • Ensuring judicial calendars and schedules are maintained.
  • Serving as a court monitor.
  • Under general supervision, performing clerical and technical duties involved in case processing, file maintenance, jury management, and the conduct of the clerical business of the court.
  • Managing jury trial calendar requests for judges to schedule upcoming trials.
  • Advising internal staff of jury procedures and updates on specific trials.
  • Serving as a courtroom clerk, producing Instant J&Ss, and obtaining signatures from parties, counsel, assigned judge, and file distribution.
  • Providing support to other magistrate or district courts within the judicial district.
  • Working with prospective jurors, instructing them on online completion or providing appropriate forms.
  • Answering phone calls, addressing incoming and outgoing correspondence, and maintaining office supplies.
