Position SummaryThe Department of History is looking for a motivated individual to be responsible for the front office. The employee staffs the front office, answers questions, and provides information regarding classes and the graduate program. Assists the Center for the Southwest and Medieval Studies program with various projects when needed. Handles sensitive materials with TOUCHNET online ordering system in addition to checks and cash for the NMHR renewals and subscriptions.
Serves as a liaison with other departments and operating units to resolve day‑to‑day administrative and operational problems. This position also assigns use of space for three departmental seminar rooms and the Common Room, compiles data and statistics for department reports, and is responsible for EVALKIT and providing information to that office. Assists the faculty newsletter editor by compiling, verifying information, proofing and editing copy, and completing layout of the annual newsletter, sent to 500 Department of History members in the U.S. Additionally, compiles faculty and PhD listings for the AHA online directory and hardcopy.
Assists with the annual inventory of department equipment, processes equipment check‑out forms required by UNM, updates the webpages for 24 faculty members and 65 graduate students, and promotes current milestones and departmental events on other social media outlets. This requires online training to maintain and update the department webpage. Also assists with special events such as new graduate student orientation, faculty retreats, HGSA meetings, the department commencement ceremony, and departmental colloquiums, as well as opening and closing the office daily and other duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment- If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
- All regular, non‑temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US‑UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- High school diploma or GED and at least three years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Experience working in higher education.

- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines.
